Don Cherry’s “Complete Communion”, was very influential on the title tune of this record. Also I work more with the suite-format, that I started with the title-tune of “Twilight Land”: Instead of the regular jazz tune format (theme – solos – theme) I use a suite-form, where the melodic and harmonic material in a little theme are developed and turned upside down through the whole piece, every new version preceding the next soloist. This way of using limited melodic and harmonic material to develop a large piece of music, I found very inspiring and was to be carried even further on “People, Places, Times and Faces”.
